Survey of tires (each 400 km or weekly)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. On late models of the tire are supplied with indicator tapes of wear of a protector which appear at achievement by a protector of depth about 1.6 mm. Depth of a protector can be determined by the simple, cheap tool known as the protector depth measuring instrument.

2. Wheels and tires should not create big problems at operation of the car if to pay attention to emergence of excessive wear or damages. At the same time it is necessary to pay attention to the next moments.

3. Regularly check and support the correct pressure in tires. Measurement of pressure in tires has to be performed on cold tires, i.e. after a while after a car stop. At measurement of pressure on a hot wheel of the indication will be a little overestimated because of thermal expansion of air in the tire. The attempt to dump pressure in such tire will lead to insufficient pressure in the tire with the consequences following from here. Pay attention that on later models the spare wheel has the special facilitated design and the required pressure of its rating it is slightly above normal (see Specifications). Such spare wheel has to be applied only in emergencies and run length with the established spare wheel should not exceed 80 km.


Pay attention to characteristic normal wear of a protector. Such anomalies as sawtooth wear of a protector, bald spots or excessive wear on the one hand indicate tires the wrong installation of forward wheels and/or disbalance of wheels. At detection any of the reasons given above they have to be immediately eliminated.

Insufficient pressure in tires is the reason of an overheat of wheels owing to an excessive deflection of the tire and the wrong contact of a protector with a paving. It is the reason of excessive wear of the tire not to mention danger of its sudden damage owing to swelling from an overheat.

Excessive pressure in tires is the reason of more bystry wear in a middle part of the protector accompanied with reduction of coupling with a paving, rigid driving and danger of shock damage of a protector of the tire.

Regularly check tires regarding detection of damage to a form of cuts or swellings, paying special attention to tire sidewalls. Delete the nails and small stones which got stuck in a protector before they pierce the tire and will be the reason of sinking of a wheel. If during removal nailing from a protector the tire began to poison air, establish a nail into place, having noticed for themselves the place of its arrangement. Then immediately make change of a wheel, and damaged deliver in mounting. Do not use the wheel damaged in this way for the movement. In case of any doubts at detection of damage of a wheel, address for council in workshops of car service or in local garages.

Periodically remove wheels and clear their back wall of the dirt which collected on it. You examine rims of wheels regarding detection of a rust, corrosion or other damages. Light-alloy wheels can be easily damaged at arrival on a curb at the parking of the car, on a metal disk in this case the dent or a bend can be formed. The only way of elimination of malfunction in these cases is replacement of a wheel.

Balancing of wheels assembled has to be made for avoidance of excessive wear not only tires, but also elements of a suspension bracket and the steering mechanism. On disbalance of wheels usually specifies emergence of the vibration which is transmitted usually through a car body, and in many cases through a steering wheel. It is necessary to pay attention that excessive wear of tires can be the reason of damage or wear of components of steering and a suspension bracket. Under this category of wear of tires the ellipsoidnost or formation of the eight on the tire, damage of a disk of a wheel and wear of the bearing of a wheel get. Balancing of a wheel in this case usually does not eliminate vibration.

Balancing of wheels can be made, both without removal of wheels from the car, and with their removal. If balancing is made on the car, it is necessary to make marking of mutually provision of a wheel and nave so that after removal, the wheel could be established into place in the former situation.

Usually wear of tires considerably depends on a driving manner - sharp acceleration and braking, too abrupt entry into turn, lead to much more bystry wear of tires. Mutual substitution of wheels allows to reach their more uniform wear. However need of simultaneous replacement of all 4 wheels of your car can be result that for many owners of cars is a serious financial problem.

Uneven wear of forward wheels can be a consequence of the wrong adjustment of disorder convergence. Forward wheels have to be always correctly adjusted in the conditions of workshops of car service.

The condition of wheels of the car is usually regulated by the laws adopted in each country.
