6.14. Testing, check and adjustment of system of injection of a topliva

Testing

At failure detection first of all make sure of system of injection of fuel that all fastenings of wires of system are reliably fixed, and plugs are not corroded corrosion. Then make sure that malfunction did not result from bad service of system - check, whether the pure filtering air cleaner element, whether in a good condition of a spark plug and whether the gap of their electrodes is correctly adjusted, whether the right pressure of a compression in cylinders whether the ignition advancing corner (where its adjustment is possible) is correctly exposed, whether ventilating hoses of the engine are pure and intact (more detailed information see Heads Routine maintenance, Repair of the engine, System of start and a charge).

If when conducting these checks the cause of defect is not found, the car has to be driven away in representative office of SAAB for professional check. In an electric contour of system there is a diagnostic socket to which specialists of SAAB connect the diagnostic equipment. By means of a diagnostic tester malfunction is found quickly and easily as there is no need to check each component of system individually.

Check and adjustment

On the models equipped with system of injection of LH-Jetronic fuel carrying out only below the following adjustments is possible. On the models which are not equipped with system of stabilization of turns of idling adjustment of turns of idling is possible, on the engines which are not equipped with the catalytic converter idling mix adjustment is possible. On the models equipped with a control system of the Trionic engine turns of idling and mix are automatically supported by the electronic actuation device (ECU). Conducting check of turns of idling and mix is possible on all models, for their carrying out it is necessary to use a tachometer and the analyzer of exhaust gas, however on the cars equipped with system of direct ignition connection of a usual tachometer it can be difficult. The majority of models is equipped with the tachometer which is built in an instrument guard.

Before starting adjustment of turns of idling or composition of mix, previously make the following checks:

   a) Check installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition (model with system of ignition with Hall's sensor) (see the Head Sistemy of start and a charge).
   b) Make sure that candles are in good shape and gaps between electrodes are exposed correctly (see the Head Routine maintenance).
   c) Check correctness of adjustment of a rope of an accelerator (address the Section Removal, installation into place and adjustment of a rope of an accelerator).
   d) Make sure that ventilating hoses of a case are reliably fixed, are not overwound and have no signs of leaks (The head Routine maintenance).
   e) Check whether excessively filtering air cleaner element is polluted (The head Routine maintenance).
   f) Check whether in a good state there is an exhaust system (The head Routine maintenance).
   g) If the engine is started very badly, check the compression pressure (The head Remont of the engine).

Make on the car a short trip sufficient to warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature.

Inspections (adjustments) have to be carried out, as soon as possible, so far the engine has normal working temperature. If the electric fan of the cooling system rotates, wait until it stops. Clear the inlet pipeline of excess fuel by a double or triple raising of turns to 2000-3000 rpm and then again, dump them to idling turns.


Make sure that all electroconsuming devices are switched-off, then stop the engine and connect to it a tachometer, following instructions of the manufacturer. If there is a tachometer which is built in an instrument guard, then connection of an external tachometer is not required. If check of composition of mix of idling is made, connect the analyzer of exhaust gases according to instructions of the manufacturer.

Models with system of injection of LH-Jetronic fuel (except models with stabilization of idling and the catalytic converter)

The adjusting screw of turns of idling is on a throttle casing. Start the engine and leave it to idle, then check whether there correspond idling turns to the values given in Specifications. In need of carrying out adjustment give a lock-nut. Tighten up the adjusting screw with the purpose to increase or reduce turns. After carrying out adjustment tighten a lock-nut.

The screw of adjustment of composition of mix of idling is on the measuring instrument of an air stream and it can be closed by the sealed-up cover. At first uncover. On the engine working at correctly adjusted idling turns check whether there is a SO level of exhaust gases in limits, admissible Specifications. In need of carrying out adjustment by means of a hexagon or the screw-driver, turn the screw of adjustment of composition of mix (turning it a little) before reduction of the SO level of exhaust gases to the value demanded according to Specifications. At the same time screwing up of the screw (rotation clockwise) carries out to enrichment of mix and increase in the SO level then as twisting of the screw leads to impoverishment of mix and to lowering of the level WITH.

If necessary make repeated check of turns of idling.

Temporarily increase turns of the engine and again dump them to idling turns. Repeat checks.

After completion of adjustments stop the engine and disconnect the diagnostic equipment.

The other models equipped with the LH-Jetronic system and the models equipped with the Trionic system

Turns of idling are supported in the set limits by the valve of stabilization of turnovers of idling of signals of the electronic actuation device (ECU). After warming up of the engine up to the normal working temperature, make sure that idling turns, are in limits, admissible Specifications. Adjustment is impossible.

The composition of mix of idling is supported electronic operating the device (ECU) on a signal a lambda probe. Having warmed up the engine up to the normal working temperatures, make sure that the composition of mix of idling corresponds to the values given in Specifications. Adjustment is impossible.

At detection of discrepancy of turns or mix to the required values further check has to be made in representative office of SAAB with use of the special equipment.
