5.2. Detachment and replacement of hoses of the cooling system

The quantity, way of laying and section of hoses depends on car model, however the procedure of work with hoses for all models is identical. Before getting to work, make sure that new hoses with new hose clips (collars) are had near at hand. Good form is replacement of hose collars at the same time with hoses.

Merge the cooling system (see the Head Routine maintenance), keep a cooler if it is subject to reuse. In case of strong corrosion of hose clips grease them with a small amount of the getting oil.

Give clips and shift collars from their seats on a hose.

Connect all wires, ropes and other hoses which can be connected or attached to the hose which is subject to removal. Remember their arrangement for the correct connection at assembly. On the new car hoses have to be removed quite easily - on the old car they can stick to the unions.
If the hose stuck, try to release it by rotation on the union before pulling off from the union. Carefully pick up the end of a hose by means of a blunt tool (such as screw-driver with a flat sting), however do not apply too much force and try not to damage tubular unions or hoses. In particular do not forget that unions of hoses of a radiator are extremely fragile; do not put excessive effort in attempt to remove hoses. In case rotation or a poddevaniye the screw-driver did not help, make an incision the end of a hose a sharp knife and remove a hose from the union. However before cutting a hose, make sure available a new hose or available a weak point of this hose for an opportunity again to dress it on the union.

Before putting on a new hose, slightly grease the tubular union with cleaning liquid or the corresponding lubricant for rubber - it will help at installation of a hose. Do not use at all oil or lubricant which can aggressively influence hose rubber.

Establish a hose clip (collar) for the end of a hose, then put on a hose the union. Completely pull it on the union. Establish into place a clip and tighten it.

Fill in the cooling system (see the Head Routine maintenance). Start the engine and make sure of lack of leaks.

Recheck reliability of tightening of hose clips of new hoses after several hundred kilometers of a run.
