3.38. Replacement of brake fluid

Replacement of brake fluid (each 2 years)

For models, the equipped systems of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS) see the head the Brake system.


Brake fluid is extremely dangerous at hit in eyes, and also can damage the painted surfaces of the car therefore, working with brake fluid, observe precautionary measures. Do not use brake fluid, which stood a long time opened as it is hygroscopic and incorporates moisture from air. Excessive availability of moisture in brake fluid lowers overall performance of brakes.


The procedure is almost similar to the procedure of pumping of the hydraulic system described in the Head the Brake system except that the tank of brake fluid has to be devastated by means of a siphon. In order to avoid pollution of new liquid liquid of hydraulic system of coupling (for which the same tank is used) the system of coupling has to be pumped over as it is described in the Head Stsepleniye after pumping of the brake system.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Following instructions of the Head the Brake system, open the 1st drain screw and shake a brake pedal to a full exit of liquid from the tank. Add in the tank of new liquid to a mark a maximum, then continue pumping until new liquid does not go from the drain screw. Tighten the screw and add in the tank liquid to a mark a maximum.
2. Old brake fluid has much more dark color, than new that gives the chance easily to distinguish one from another.
3. Repeat the procedure with all drain screws in turn until pure liquid begins to follow from them. Be careful, do not allow liquid to fall in the main cylinder below a mark at least as it will lead to hit of air in system and will significantly increase time demanded for pumping of brakes.
4. In conclusion make sure that all drain screws are strong tightened, and on them dustproof caps are established. Wash away all traces of the spilled liquid and again check liquid level in the tank.
5. Before starting the movement on the car, check functioning of brakes.
