On B202 engines (without balancing shaft) the main (multicostal) driving belt is used for actuating from a pulley of the crankshaft of the water pump, the generator and the pump of system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel. On models of the cars equipped with the air conditioning system an additional pulley of the crankshaft sets in motion the compressor of the air conditioner by means of a maple driving belt. The tension of the main driving belt is carried out either manually, or automatically, adjustment of a driving belt of the air conditioning system is carried out by means of a tension roller.

On B204 and B234 engines (with a balancing shaft) for actuating of the water pump, the generator and the pump of system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel from a pulley of the crankshaft one driving belt is used. One driving belt is used also on the models equipped with the air conditioning system, however this belt has big length to include a pulley of the compressor of the air conditioning system in the chain. The tension of a driving belt is carried out automatically by means of two tension rollers and a spring of a tension.

Check of a condition of an auxiliary driving belt (belts)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. For simplification of access to a driving belt cock the emergency brake, a front of the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on an axial prop. Remove the right forward wheel, then remove the plastic molding of a wing going from forward section of a loker of a wing under an arch of a forward wheel.
2. By means of a face key of the suitable size with the corresponding extender which is put on a crankshaft pulley bolt turn the crankshaft so that it was possible to examine a driving belt (belts) on all length. Examine a driving belt regarding detection of cracks, stratification, a rastrepyvaniye and other damages. Pay also attention to emergence of the shining sites and flaking of material of a belt. At considerable wear or damages replace a belt.
3. On B202 engines, in cases if the condition of a driving belt of the air conditioning system is satisfactory, make a belt tension, according to the instructions given under the corresponding subtitle.

Removal, installation into place and adjustment of a tension of an auxiliary driving belt (compressor belt of the air conditioning system) (B202 engine)

 REMOVAL

1. If are not made yet, do the procedures described in §3.
2. Give on 90 ° a lock-nut on a roller of a natyazhitel, then by means of the wrench which is put on an internal nut shift a roller in its domestic situation on the lever of a natyazhitel. Again tighten a lock-nut.
3. Take off a driving belt from a roller of a natyazhitel and pulleys of the crankshaft and the compressor.


 INSTALLATION INTO PLACE AND ADJUSTMENT OF THE TENSION

1. Put on a driving belt all 3 pulleys, then establish into place a tension roller by means of the wrench which is put on an internal nut until the tension of a belt is not that that by firm pressing of a finger a run between a pulley of the crankshaft and a pulley of the compressor, the belt will cave in approximately on 15 mm. Tighten a lock-nut. Pay attention that mechanics of SAAB for a tension of a driving belt use the special tool - at emergence of any doubts in correctness of a tension of a driving belt it is necessary to address to representative office of SAAB.
2. Establish into place a loker of a wing and a plastic molding, and lower the car on the earth.

Removal, installation into place and adjustment a tension of an auxiliary (multicostal) driving belt (the B202 engine with manual adjustment of a tension)

REMOVAL

1. If did not do yet, do the procedure described in §3.
2. On the models equipped with the air conditioning system take off a driving belt of the air compressor as it is described above (§§6 - 8).
3. Weaken on a quarter or half way the central bolt of a tension roller, then weaken an adjusting nut (it is specified by an arrow) until it is possible to take off a belt from pulleys, natyazhitel, the crankshaft, the generator, the pump of system of strengthening of a wheel and the water pump.


 INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT OF THE TENSION

1. Put on a driving belt all pulleys, then tighten an adjusting nut to until by firm pressing of a thumb approximately on a quarter of a way of the top run of a belt near a pulley of the pump of system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel the belt caves in approximately on 15 mm. Tighten the central bolt of a tension roller. Keep in mind that mechanics of SAAB for a tension of a driving belt use the special tool - at emergence of any doubts in correctness of adjustment of a tension of a driving belt address to representative office of SAAB.
2. Establish into place a loker of a wing and a plastic molding, and lower the car into place.

Removal and installation to the place of an auxiliary (multicostal) driving belt (for engines without balancing shaft with an automatic natyazhitel of a belt)

 REMOVAL

1. If did not do yet, do the procedures described in §3.
2. On early B202 engines with the air conditioning system remove as it is described above a driving compressor belt of the air conditioner (§§6-8).
3. By means of the face key which is put on a nut of a pulley of a natyazhitel wring out a roller of a natyazhitel for weakening of a tension of a driving belt down.
4. Take off a driving belt from a pulley of the water pump (and where it is available from a pulley of the compressor of the air conditioner). Weaken a roller of a natyazhitel.
5. Take off a driving belt from the remained pulleys.


 INSTALLATION INTO PLACE

1. Put on a driving belt all pulleys, except a pulley of the water pump (and so where it is established, a pulley of the compressor of the air conditioner). Make sure that the multicostal belt is put correctly on pulleys.
2. By means of the face key which is put on a nut of a roller of a natyazhitel wring out a roller of a natyazhitel down to that time, it will not be yet possible to put on a driving belt pulleys of the water pump / compressor of the air conditioner. Release a roller of a natyazhitel. Adjustment of a tension of a driving belt is made automatically at start of the engine.
3. Establish into place a loker of a wing and a plastic molding, and lower the car on the earth.

 REMOVAL

1. If did not do yet, do the procedures described in §3.
2. Now it is necessary to squeeze and hold in the compressed state by means of the self-made tool a spring of a natyazhitel. For production of such tool cut off a piece of a metal plate according to the sizes specified in the drawing. Then drill 2 openings and insert into them bolts, as shown in the drawing. For compression of a spring press the top run of a driving belt, then install the holding tool in a cut on a bracket of a natyazhitel. Now release a belt and make sure that the natyazhitel keeps in the compressed state. Keep in mind that the spring of a natyazhitel is rather rigid and its compression requires decent effort.
3. Take off a driving belt from pulleys of the water pump, pump of system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel, the crankshaft (and where is available - from the compressor of the air conditioner).
4. Unscrew a bolt, the fixing roller of a natyazhitel to a bracket, then shoot a video, take a roller and a driving belt from a motive compartment.

The bolt of a roller of a natyazhitel has the left carving therefore for his untwisting it is necessary to turn it clockwise shooters.


INSTALLATION INTO PLACE

1. Insert a driving belt into a bracket of a natyazhitel, then establish into place a roller and tighten the holding bolt.
2. Put on a driving belt all pulleys, having made sure that the multicostal surface of a belt correctly sat down in flutes of pulleys.
3. For compression of a spring of a natyazhitel press a driving belt, then remove the holding tool and release a driving belt. Adjustment of a driving belt is carried out automatically at start of the engine.
4. Establish into place a loker of a wing and a plastic molding and lower the car on the earth.
