17.9. Removal and installation to the place of an instrument guard

The instrument guard is the uniform module which part are a speedometer, a tachometer, measuring instruments and alarm lamps, and also the EDU display.

For ensuring access to an instrument guard, all assembly of the forward panel - enough removal of the top panel ("Torpedo") not necessarily has to be removed.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire of the battery and shift it from the plug aside.
2. Remove the top panel ("Torpedo") (see the corresponding paragraphs of the Section Removal and installation to the place of assembly of the forward panel ("Torpedo"))
3. Remove the air sleeve which is over an instrument guard.
4. On a back part of an instrument guard disconnect all electric sockets of cables, having marked them for simplification of the subsequent assembly.
5. There where is available, disconnect a driving rope of a speedometer from a back part of an instrument guard.
6. On the cars equipped with a turbocompressor disconnect a pressurization measuring instrument hose from a back part of an instrument guard.
7. Remove two fixing screws in the top corners of an instrument guard. Pay attention that heads of screws are turned towards a partition and thus can be removed from "Torpedo" by means of the screw-driver with the short handle. Remove rubber adjusting plugs.
8. Take out an instrument guard through the top part of the dashboard and remove the rubber adjusting basis.
9. The procedure of replacement of illumination and alarm lamps of an instrument guard is provided in the Section Removal and installation to the place of bulbs of internal lighting)
10. The instrument guard consists of separate modules, the devices which are contained in which can be replaced individually, after return of fixing screws of a subject to this of the measuring instrument.

Installation into place

Installation of an instrument guard is into place carried out as it should be, the return to a removal order, taking into account the next moments:

   a) When lowering an instrument guard on the place, track that the rubber adjusting basis was placed on the bases on metal adjusting brackets.
   b) Track that cable sockets were installed into place, according to the tags made in the course of removal and are strongly fixed in nests.
   c) Install the top panel ("Torpedo") into place, working according to paragraphs of the Section Removal and installation to the place of assembly of the forward panel ("Torpedo")) track the correct installation of fixing screws.
