13.2. Removal, survey and installation to the place of power shafts



1. Park the car on the flat platform, cock the emergency brake and prop up back wheels. Disconnect a negative wire of the battery and remove it from the battery plug aside.
2. Take off a decorative cap from the corresponding forward wheel. Weaken a nut of a power shaft, remembering that this nut is tightened with very big effort - choose for this purpose a powerful face key with densely put on head.
3. Weaken bolts of fastening of a wheel, then a poddomkratta a car front, establish it on axial support (address Poddomkrachivaniye's Section, towage and change of wheels) and remove a wheel.
4. Remove screws and take from an internal wing a loker (address the Head Body works).
5. Remove collars from a casing of an internal power shaft, having had a bite powerful bokoreza the twisted section - pay attention that collars are not subject to repeated installation.
6. Shift a rubber casing on a power shaft from the internal universal hinge aside, at the same time prepare for certain losses of lubricant - after a while after use viscosity of lubricant of hinges of power shafts decreases to viscosity of hinged oil. For collecting the spilled lubricant put old rags under a power shaft.
7. Otboltite a rack from the lower adjusting bracket on assembly of a nave (The head Podvesk and steering). Take from a clip on the rack case a flexible brake hose. Pay attention that on models with the ABS system the wire of the sensor of a wheel is clamped in a bracket which fastens the same bolt, as a suspension bracket rack.
8. Remove the central nut of a nave and a persistent washer. Pay attention that on late models the nut and a washer are replaced with a nut with a shaped flange. In both cases of a nut and washers are subject to replacement by new.
9. Holding one hand a power shaft, incline a rotary fist of the steering mechanism from the car aside, now the power shaft can be taken out from the internal universal hinge, at the same time the protection cover remains still connected. Again prepare for a spill of the greasing substance.
10. Take shlitsovanny section of a power shaft from a nave. As vents of a power shaft are greased with the fixing compound, extraction of a shaft from a nave can be complicated. In this case for protection of a carving establish into place an old nut of a power shaft, then for extraction of a shaft from a nave knock on the end of a shaft with a soft kiyanka. Alternatively use a three-gripping stripper.
11. Acquire one of bolts of the lower support of a rack for deduction of a rotary fist at the taken-out power shaft. In order to avoid hit in the hinge of particles of dirt, close a cup of the open universal hinge on the car; use for this purpose the plastic package fixed by an elastic band.



1. Remove the remained collar, the fixing second rubber casing to a power shaft. Shift casings lengthways on a shaft from the hinge aside. Remove with rags traces of old lubricant.
2. For ensuring marking of mutually situation between the hinge and a power shaft apply on the CV hinge a tag by means of a scraper or dab of paint, then special flat-nose pliers unclench the ring clip holding a power shaft in the hinge.
3. Take a shaft from the CV hinge.
4. Pay attention that the ring clip is fixed in the case of the hinge and is not subject to removal if is not strongly worn out or damaged.
5. On the internal end of a power shaft by means of the hammer and a center punch put marking of mutual provision of a shaft and the hinge. Remove special flat-nose pliers a ring clip (it is specified by an arrow) from an internal shaft.
6. Then by means of a three-gripping stripper remove the tripodny hinge from the end of a power shaft. You watch that the stripper rested on the cast center of section of the hinge, but not against rollers.
7. Remove rubber casings from a power shaft and throw out them; needless to say at installation it is necessary to apply new casings. Carefully clear vents of a power shaft, the CV hinges and components of the tripodny hinge kerosene or other suitable solvent, watching to washing away the adjusting tags made when dismantling.
8. Examine components CV of hinges regarding detection of wear and damages. Pay special attention to balls and flutes corresponding to them. Check whether is not present on balls and surfaces of flutes of traces of pointed corrosion or corrosion. At detection of signs of wear, the hinge has to be replaced. Remember that the CV hinge, balls and an external power shaft have to be replaced in a set.
9. Examine components of the tripodny hinge regarding wear detection. Check whether rollers freely rotate, whether they are worn-out, are not damaged and whether there are no corrosion traces on them. Rollers lean on needle bearings; their wear or damages are shown in the form of an axial side play of rollers and/or the complicated their rotation. At detection of signs of wear the tripodny hinge has to be replaced.
10. Establish a new rubber casing on the internal end of a power shaft and fix it on a shaft by a collar.
11. Put on the tripodny hinge vents of a power shaft taking into account the adjusting tags made when dismantling. Begin to knock the hinge into place by means of a kiyanka with a soft head, in order to avoid damage of rollers and shlits of a power shaft use for this purpose a replaceable head internal diameter slightly more, than diameter of a power shaft. Establish into place a ring clip.
12. Pull a casing on the tripodny hinge and fill it lubricant from service set.
13. Establish a rubber casing on the external end of a power shaft and fix it by a collar.
14. Fill the CV hinge lubricant from service set, натолкав lubricant in flutes for balls so that inside there is no air left.
15. Grease vents of a power shaft with lubricant, then holding a ring clip opened by means of special flat-nose pliers, insert it into the CV hinge, monitoring combination of the adjusting tags made in the course of dismantling. Make sure that the ring clip entered a flute on a power shaft; pull for a shaft with the purpose to make sure whether reliably it is enshrined in the provision.
16. For removal of possible air pockets fill in the hinge of additional lubricant.
17. Then pull a rubber casing on the hinge. For a short time raise casing sponges for air deflation from the hinge, then fix a casing by a collar.

Do not allow hit of lubricant on the painted surfaces of the car - lubricant is aggressive.

Installation into place


1. Make sure that vents of the external end of a power shaft are pure, then put the suitable fixing compound (such as, Loctite 641) outside of shlits on width of 10 mm.
2. After removal of temporarily established bolt from a support of a rack turn a rotary fist of the steering mechanism from the car aside and insert the shlitsovanny end of a power shaft into a nave.
3. Establish a new persistent washer and a nut of a power shaft (or a flantsovanny nut), do not tighten at this stage a nut completely.
4. Combine the lower support of a rack of a suspension bracket with a bracket on a rotary fist and establish into place two bolts, having tightened them with the required effort. On models with the ABS system you remember that the top bolt of a support of a rack has to fix also a wheel sensor rope bracket. Insert a flexible brake hose with the plug into a clip on the rack case.
5. Holding one hand a shaft, push a rotary fist back to the car, again having connected трипоид in the universal hinge. Put on a casing the place on the hinge, for a short time lift casing sponges for production of air, check that the casing sits on the hinge perpendicularly, then establish a new collar on the center of the hinge and tighten it.
6. Establish into place an internal loker of a wing, then a wheel and bolts of fastening of a wheel.
7. Lower the car on the earth and tighten a nut of a power shaft with the required effort.
8. Tighten bolts of fastening of a wheel with the required effort and establish into place a decorative cap of a disk.

It is not necessary to use the car at least within 1 hour after holding a procedure of removal and installation of power shafts. This time is required for hardening of a blocking compound.
