11.7. Removal and installation to the place of the speedometer drive

On cars of these models two types of the mechanical drive of a speedometer are established. On cars till 1987 the issue is used the ordinary trosikovy drive which consists from spiralno the cut gear wheel set in motion directly from differential. The gear wheel remotely transfers rotation to a speedometer by means of rotation of a flexible internal shaft of a rope.

The wrong, unstable indications of a speedometer, such as falling or jumping of an arrow which do not give in to correction by replacement of a driving rope of a speedometer can be a consequence of wear of a gear wheel; the detailed description of the procedure of removal and installation to the place of a gear wheel is provided in the following subsection.

Cars after 1987 the issue are equipped with the electronic sensor instead of a gear wheel. In this system measurement of speed of rotation of the main transfer of transmission which results will be transformed to the electric signal sent then to the speedometer module on an instrument guard is performed. The signal is also applied as one of entrance signals of the electronic actuation device of a control system of the engine (and where is available - the electronic actuation device of a tempostat, the traveling computer and the electronic actuation device of the traction control system.

Removal

At removal of a driving gear wheel from the transmissions having serial number of production to 310568 there is a danger of casual falling of a gear wheel in transmission after removal of a blocking ring; the design of transmissions of later release does not allow such opportunity.


Do not allow falling of a gear wheel in a transmission case.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Track a driving rope of a speedometer to a connection point on the right wall of a casing of differential in a back part of a case of transmission.
2. Give a hand a nut with a nakatka and take the end of a driving rope. Where is available, remove a washer.
3. Reel up a piece of a thin copper wire on a gear wheel carving and fix the free end on any fixed transmission point; it will help to avoid casual falling of a gear wheel in a transmission case after removal of a blocking ring.
4. By means of the thin hour screw-driver with a flat sting take blocking a ring.
5. Remove a gear wheel from a saddle, then take and throw out a sealing ring.
6. Carefully clear a gear wheel and examine teeth regarding detection of signs of wear or damage. If necessary replace components. However you remember that the leading gear wheel in a differential case can be also worn-out; replacement of this gear wheel can be made as a part of the procedure of capital repairs of transmission.

Installation into place

Where between a nut and the case of a gear wheel the washer was established, track that at installation, before accession of a rope, the washer was established into place.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Oil a new sealing ring pure motive and establish it in a flute on the gear wheel case.
2. Establish a gear wheel in a saddle, also as having used a wire piece for prevention of its falling in transmission earlier. Rotate a gear wheel with the purpose to make sure that its teeth entered gearing with the leading gear wheel in transmission.
3. Insert into a flute in a transmission casing a blocking ring and remove a safety wire.
4. Push a driving rope in a nest of the top part of a gear wheel and screw a nut with a nakatka, having strong tightened it.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Find the speed sensor which settles down on a differential casing in a back part of a case of transmission.
2. Give a plait of wires from the sensor on the socket.
3. Give the fixing screw of the sensor and unscrew the block from a transmission casing.
4. Remove and throw out a sealing ring.

Installation into place

At installation the new sealing ring has to be used.


Installation is into place made as it should be, the return to a removal order.
